  • Responsible for designing from the ground up concepts and ideas resulting in renewing contracts and increase by 35% new clients.

Operations Manager. Juanchis Inc.  Cali, Colombia. July 1997 – December 1998
Spearhead all product development initiatives for this $600K snacks manufacturer in the food industry with responsibility for the top product.  Accountable for new product development, brand strategy and positioning, marketing,  market research, point of purchase promotion, pricing strategies, package design, sourcing and quality management.  Work with outside design/advertising agencies and manage a $50K operating budget.  Report directly to the President of the company.

  • Developed and launched 3 new snacks products: potato chips, plantain chips and caramel chips, generating $200,000 annually and making the company one of the city’s top 5 manufactures of such products.
  • Devised a customized Brand Management System that radically altered how marketing programs are conceived, managed and executed.  Effort led to a $250,000 improvement in EBIT in the first year.
  • Initiated a broad-based promotional strategy involving 18 new product items that is projected to boost the company’s snacks market share by 150% and generate $5.2 million in total revenue by the end of CY2010. 
  • Established a strategic, reciprocal sourcing alliance with a leading vendor, increasing the viability of a new product and resulting in a 30% larger addressable market. 
  • Piloted a market-based pricing program that eliminates the complexities of product pricing and provides individual Supervisors with accurate, real-time, market-level, local pricing information.

Operations Manager. Chitos Pokets Inc.  Tulcán, Ecuador. January 1995 – June 1997
Envisioned concept and founded this snack food manufacturing and distribution company operating throughout the Ecuador.  Accountable for managing account P&L and all aspects of the brand management process, including business and financial planning, sourcing, product development, package design, strategy, positioning, pricing, sales and marketing, cost management, logistics, import/export, quality control and general administration. Managed successful long-term relationships with 12 suppliers.

  • Structured and implemented a sales/marketing plan that successfully built brand name recognition and grew the company from start-up to more than $300,000 in annual sales over 3 years.
  • Sourced, developed and launched 6 new food and beverage products over an 8 month period. Re-launched an established retail snack product that garnered 80% of total local and 25% country wide market share within 12 months.
  • Secured a $120,000 line of credit with only 6 months of operating history that allowed the company to retain 16 key suppliers on an exclusive basis throughout Latin America in order to support future growth.
  • Oversee the strategic management and operational oversight of the company's Business Development and Operations in order to provide streamlined operations, reduced operating costs, and greater profitability.
